DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Artist of the Year award winners will be honored at the annual awards ceremony hosted by Art Spark Texas at The Cathedral\, 2403 East 16th Street\, Austin\, TX 78702 on Sunday\, September 17\, 2023. This free event will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM CDT\, and is free to attend. This will be an in-person live event. All ages are welcome. \nRSVP at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2023-art-spark-texas-artist-of-the-year-awards-celebration-tickets-652331540197 \nCongratulations to our 2023 Artists of the Year!\nHaven Street Allen Artist of the Year – Mario Lopez \nSpark Award – Kurt Wilkinson \nLynn Marie Johnson Media Arts Award – Valois Vera \nGloria Bond Creative Aging Award – Kathyna Hatla \nDirector’s Commendation – Karen Lamb \nDirector’s Commendation – Tommy Nienaber \nEvent Details:\nMC – Ann Ciccolella\, Artistic Director\, Austin Shakespeare\, a professional theater company that performs plays with “heightened language” at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Ann began her directing career Off-Off Broadway after graduating from New York University. These days\, Ann facilitates a weekly Artist’s Way creativity group on zoom\, and brings Shakespeare into middle and high school classes. \nMusic by The Spinrockers\, an Austin-based band featuring singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and arranger Devin Gutierrez and piano-playing singer-songwriter Mary Rose Bushland! Expect a feel-good blend of rock and R&B classics along with some tasteful originals! \nLight refreshments and music starting at 1:30 PM. \nAwards Presentation until 4:00 PM. \nLocation: The Cathedral \nThe 2023 event will be in person. DESCRIPTION:Join our Monthly Drum Circle\, led by Mary Oliver of Spirit Rhythms on the last Saturday of each month from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Mary focuses on her passion for drumming as a tool for nurturing others toward self-expression\, spirituality\, and wellness.
