DESCRIPTION:Call for Art\nDeadline: Friday\, October 2\, 2020 \nHave you been wondering? Is Art Spark Texas hosting a Holiday Art & Gift Show this year? Well\, we have an idea and we hope you like it! \nHoliday Curated Boxes\nAs with everything in 2020\, it’s going to be a little different. The curated box concept has become popular in recent years and seems especially suited to the current time. People purchase specialized boxes of items selected by the “curators.” Some examples are beauty products\, fair trade or sustainable handmade items\, edible treats\, art and crafts\, etc. Our Holiday Curated Box would contain 5 small pieces of arts and crafts created by Art Spark artists with each box containing 5 original works of art. We will also add some Art Spark “extra goodies.” The boxes can be used by the purchaser as a single gift\, or the art items in the boxes can be given by the purchaser to multiple recipients\, or even kept as a gift for themselves to support Art Spark Texas  and our Artists. \nParticipation Details:\nIf this interests you\, respond by 5 pm Friday\, October 2nd with sample images\, prices\, and descriptions to April@artsparktx.org. We are looking for small gift items that can be created in multiples that you would feel comfortable pricing at $10 or less. Artists receive 50%. The posters are intended to spark conversations on the employment of people with disabilities in businesses and organizations across the Lone Star State. The posters feature original work from an outstanding Texas artist\, along with their picture and personal statement\, and the national DEAM theme. Young writers with disabilities and collaborative groups that include students with disabilities\, in the U.S. grades 6-12 (or equivalents) or ages 11-18 for non-U.S. students\, are invited to explore the disability experience through the art of writing for performance—in the form of plays\, screenplays\, or music theater. SUMMARY:Call for Short Films: Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Submission deadline: August 2\, 2019* \nThe Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival dispels common misperceptions about disability by showing films that portray people with disabilities in an accurate and interesting way. The selected films show that individuals with disabilities live the same sort of full and independent lives as all other people. Submit your film here! \nThe short film competition is an essential part of this festival. This competition invites filmmakers to share their personal views of disability through a short film. The films with the most imaginative and interesting portrayals of people with disabilities will be featured at Cinema Touching Disability. The three best films will also win a cash prize and an award certificate. \nSubmissions are welcome from all filmmakers\, ranging from the professional to the independent\, student\, or amateur. The filmmaker may also be of any age\, ranging from elementary school student to adult. Entries are welcome from filmmakers who have a disability. This does not mean that you are required to have a disability to submit. \nFilms may be entered in either the documentary or non-documentary division. Documentary films provide factual accounts of a disability or a person with a disability\, while non-documentary entries are fictional. Non-documentary films can be of any genre. Past winners have included comedy\, music video\, animation\, science fiction\, horror\, and even silent films \nThe following prizes are awarded in each division: \n• First Place: $500 USD\n• Second Place: $250 USD\n• Third Place: $100 USD\n• Selected finalists will also be screened \nThe top three winning films in each division will be featured at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin\, Texas during the Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival. The films also have a chance to win the Audience Favorite Award. \nCinema Touching Disability also screens many of the other finalists. The Festival selects as many of them as possible to be shown on both evenings. \nFilms must be received before 12:00 a.m. on Friday\, August 2\, 2019. The following requirements are mandatory for all submissions: \n1. Each film must be between three (3) and twenty (20) minutes long. The length of the film does not include the credits; it only refers to the content of the film.\n2. The film may NOT have been previously submitted to the Cinema Touching Disability Short Film Competition.\n3. The film must either be about\, star\, or be made by a person with a disability. A disability is an impairment that limits a major life activity. Disabilities include\, but are not limited to\, blindness\, deafness\, paraplegia\, quadriplegia\, autism\, cerebral palsy and dwarfism.\n5. Films must not be demeaning or discriminatory about disability or people with disabilities. \n*This is not a Art Spark Texas call for art. \n

DESCRIPTION:Submission deadline: June 3\, 2019* \nAbilities Expo has invited Art Spark Texas for the 10th year in a row to host the Artist Market at their event in Houston. Art Spark Texas invites artists with disabilities living in the Houston area to submit a booth proposal for the Artist Market at Abilities Expo 2019 in Houston\, TX. There is a $20 entry fee due with the application. If accepted into the show\, there is a $25 booth fee. Splitting a booth with someone is allowed. \n2D and 3D works in all media as well as crafts\, literary arts\, and CDs of music are eligible. Participants will be chosen by Art Spark Texas based on quality of work\, the need to display diverse media\, and ability of artist to be present and professional at this full weekend event. \nPlease submit the Abilities Expo Houston Entry Form with up to three examples of work to be in the form of digital photographs. The deadline for entry is Monday\, June 3\, 2019. Those selected will be notified by Monday\, July 1\, 2019.
