SUMMARY:The Story Behind the Recipe
DESCRIPTION:Here in Austin\, we love food! And this summer\, Art Spark Texas needs your help to share the story behind your home recipes! During June and July we are offering Austin Seniors and Young Adults a series of multimedia art workshops that focus on building connection through food. We will learn the tools of visual art and video to share these recipes and stories. The focus of the videos will be “The Story Behind the Recipe”. Seniors will participate in a 4 week series of writing\, illustration\, and video interview activities. Classes for Seniors will take place 10-11:30 AM on Wednesdays. Young Adults will participate in a 6 week series of new media training workshops on audio/video recording\, animation\, and editing. Classes for young adults will take place 1:30-3 PM on Wednesdays. Each workshop covers a new tool and thus creates a new piece of content for our final videos. Our goal is to use the power of art to share Austin culture and bring together two diverse groups of people around the central focus of food. Artists of all experience levels welcome! \nRegister Here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeRoE7vaGk2o7kTgC-cD7IKPuXPWXIhUBxVUqM126fa4YFnrA/viewform?usp=sf_link

The Artist of the Year Awards celebrate\, and encourage\, the abundance of creativity in our community. \nIt’s easy to give. Just visit the Donation page and make a contribution to us. You have several weeks to do this\, but there are some exciting fundraising challenges we can meet if you donate right away! To qualify for a grant\, we need to meet a minimum fundraising goal of $3\,000 between July 18th and August 12th\, 2022\, and we need your help! \nHelp us raise funds for our 2022 Artist of the Year Awards by making a donation online on our A Community Thrives page. Our ultimate goal for this campaign is $8\,000. \nEach year\, the Artist of the Year Awards are given to Texas artists who embody the spirit and vision of Art Spark Texas\, and who challenge the perceptions of how people contribute by demonstrating artistic excellence or leading the way as a community catalyst for change. It is important for these artists to be seen and heard\, and yes\, recognized for their abilities and talent. All giving will end at 11:00 AM CDT on August 12th\, 2022. \nQuestions? Please contact Susan@artsparktx.org. Thank you in advance for your support of Art Spark Texas! \nhttps://acommunitythrives.mightycause.com/organization/Art-Spark-Texas

SUMMARY:Poetry of Movement with Peggy Lamb: Moving Through Writing
DESCRIPTION:This is your chance to discover how delightfully creative you are! Come play with us as we explore the relationship between the language of words and the language of the body. As we dance the inexpressible\, we will come to know the symbolic language of movement and the cellular wisdom that swims through our bodies. Without judgment or criticism\, we will write our lives\, our dances\, our songs\, and our poetry. Using gentle stretches and movement exercises\, we will open our body’s mind to let our words flow.\n\nPrevious movement and/or writing experience is NOT required.\n\n\nThis class meets every Saturday morning from 10-11 am CT\, September 17th through November 5th\, 2022 at Conley-Guerrero Senior Center at 808 Nile St\, Austin\, TX 78702. The class is donation based and limited to 16 participants. Register here.\n\n\n
