Meet the Artists – Holiday Show Reception

Meet the Artists Reception – 2-4pm – Saturday, December 14, 2019
3707 Home Lane, Austin, Tx

The 11th annual Holiday Art and Gift show is going strong! We are open 5 days a week Tuesday through Saturday and have lots of great offerings by new artists and returning favorites. Every Saturday we host a reception with food, drinks, music, and an opportunity to get to know our featured artists. This Saturday, December 14th, shop from noon to 5pm and meet the following featured artists from 2-4pm: Elizabeth Heringlake, Jourdan Huerta, Terry McDowell and Valerie Siref.

Cook and Rose

Cook and Rose photoOur live music this Saturday will be provided by Cook and Rose. Cook and Rose are Christopher Cook and Emmy Rose, a duo from Central Texas playing music rooted in folk and blues. We met them when they played our Open Mic earlier this year and then invited them to play at our quarterly Library Live event. Come by for a listen. Also, their CDs are for sale in the show!

Elizabeth Heringlake

Elizabeth Heringlake painted seashellsElizabeth Heringlake has been displaying her “Mermaid Treasures” with Art Spark Texas for several years. Her beautifully painted flowers on delicate seashells are a great affordable gift for those on your list who appreciate a little magic and something to give them a smile.

Jourdan Huerta

JOURDAN HUERTA photoJourdan Huerta has been involved with Art Spark Texas for a long time. She started as one of our New Media Arts students. Now, as an adult, she is back at Art Spark Texas teaching us! Jourdan is a certified Zumba instructor and teaches Zumba at our building on Thursdays from 5:30-6:00pm. Come join the fun! She is exhibiting several small paintings in the holiday show. For Jourdan, art is a coping skill that helps her overcome challenges and relieve stress.

Terry McDowell

Terry McDowell photoTerry McDowell is one of our newer artists who came to us through our Veteran programs. He is a native Texan and US Army combat veteran who served 10 years in the military, deployed to Iraq in 2006 and Afghanistan in 2008. Terry lives in San Marcos. When he’s not sketching, he is building mountain dulcimers and tribal flutes from re-purposed lumber. He has small sketches and photographs on acrylic on display in our gallery.

Valerie Siref

VALERIE SIREF photo, valerie sitting in front of three costume piecesValerie Siref is a longtime friend of Art Spark Texas and we are glad to welcome her back as an artist. Valerie is a talented seamstress who enjoys making costumes out of recycled materials. With her limited vision it is easier for her to take apart and transform existing garments than it is to sew new ones. Valerie has a beautiful kimono on display in our shop, and she also made our Art Spark Texas frame that is being used in our photo booth at the receptions. Keep Valerie in mind if you have any costume needs. She can make anything!

We hope to see you this Saturday or any time before Dec 24th at the Art Spark Texas Holiday Art and Gift Show.
