EXPRESSIONS, An annual exhibit celebrating Mental Illness Awareness Week
Art Spark Texas hosts an annual exhibit, Expressions, dedicated to raising awareness for Mental Illness Awareness Week. This year, the Expressions exhibit will be on view at the San Antonio's Barshop Jewish Community Center through the month of October. Don't miss the artist's opening reception on Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00-8:00 pm.
This year's exhibit showcases dozens of artists with disabilities from across the state of Texas.
Mental Illness Awareness Week is an annual national observance that a 1986 presidential proclamation created to recognize “the urgent need to educate the American public about mental illnesses and their treatments.” The 2025 Mental Illness Awareness Week activities will be held from Oct 5, 2025 – Oct 11, 2025. During this week, millions of Americans will honor the challenges of mental illness, as well as celebrate the recoveries they or their loved ones have embraced.
